week of April 16

Good Morning Conwell Tigers,

Get the rain coats and umbrellas out because the next 24-36 hours looks very wet!!  The April Showers are most certain to bring out the May Flowers.  This week is the start of the WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD.   At PS#3, Grades Pre-K through 2 will be participating in some fun activities throughout the week.  The opening ceremonies were originally scheduled to be held for our entire Pre-K at City Hall has been relocated to the PS#3 gymnasium and all Pre-K through 2nd grade students will be accommodated given our large space.  Out of the rain we see the rainbows sometimes.

I would like to congratulate our very own, Georgiy Lavcinovskis from Grade 3 for being named the Jersey City Public Schools ESL Student of the Year.  Congratulations Georgiy!!

In addition, at the April JCBOE meeting scheduled for Thursday, Ms. Karin Vanoppen will be honored and recognized for all of her support within the parent community.  One of her many contributions includes the improvement of our RECESS at lunch time helping to provide balls, jump ropes, and hula hoops for our children to play with.  Karin is currently serving as the Vice President of our PTA.  Thank you Karin for all of your support!!  The Board Meeting will be held at 6pm at PS#11 on Bergen Avenue.

There will be Mary Poppins, Jr. Rehearsals this week on Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30-6pm.

ALL THIRD, FOURTH, AND FIFTH grade children must have earbuds or headphones in a zip-lock bag stored at the school by now in preparation for the administration of the PARCC.  Any child who has not brought in the headphones at this point MUST do so by the end of the week.  If you have any questions, please email your child's teacher.
